The IAI Nutrition Database is an online database that provides information on the following:
- Nutrient composition of ingredients
- Nutrient composition of feeds
- Digestibility of ingredients to different animal species
- Nutrient requirement of different animal species
The source of data is publications including books and journal articles, and in-house reports in IAI.
The source of data is identified in the database. For example a journal article is identified by its authors,
year, title of the article, journal in which it appeared volume, pages, etc.
Nutrients are classified into broad items such as proximate, amino acids, fatty acids, and specific nutrients
under each item such as crude protein, lysine, etc. Ingredients are classified into broad items such as Animal
byproducts, and identified by its origin and processing method. Species are classified into broad groups such
as fishes, crustaceans, etc. and narrower groups such as Salmonids, catfishes, tiger shrimp, etc. One source
may have more than one type of a report. For example an author may have presented nutrient composition of
several ingredients and their digestibility in one or more animal species. A report may include nutrient
requirements for several species.
