
Eduardo Figueras
- Received Bachelor degree in Aquatic
Science from Universidad Autónoma
Metropolitana-Iztapalapa in México, and
pursued Graduate studies in Marine Science
at the University of San Diego in the USA.
Certified in Shrimp Pathology from the
University of Arizona in 1998.
- Started as Assistant Hatchery Manager
with Compañía Subacuática Diavaz in Carmen,
México in 1984. Became Hatchery Production
Manager with APSA S.A. de C.V. in La Paz,
Baja California, México in 1991 and handled
increasing responsibilities as Hatchery
Manager and then Overall Production Manager
in various shrimp farming operations.
- Prior to IAI, he was responsible for all
facets of production at the hatchery,
raceway nurseries, pre-growing ponds, grow
out ponds, and breeding program at
Industrias Pecis, S.A. de C.V. Mérida,
Yucatán, México, which has a closed
production system to produce 2500 tons of
shrimp per year.
- He has served as an Advisor to the
Mexican Government on Aquatic Pathology (Delegado
de Sanidad Acuícola).
At the present time, Eduardo Figueras is the
Director of Production of Integrated
Aquaculture International and is located in IAI’s Technology Service project with the
Department of Fisheries, Brunei Darussalam.
